We are a small virtual squadron that participates in online flight simulations, specifically, World War Two flight simulators. Jagdverband 44 online (JV44) was founded in 1997. The group formed when a bunch of like minded nerds, that loved World War II aviation, came together with the release of the original Microsoft's Fighter Ace (1997) played on a connection speed of 28kps!
Many things have changed in 25 years. Technology being the greatest difference. JV44 has embraced the change. It has allowed our passion for online flight simulators to grow as hardware and software grows to create more and more realistic experiences.
JV44 is usually one of the online first squadrons to participate in any new World War II flight sim software. We've had many members in the past help with beta testing of these flight sims. Over the years, JV44 members have participated in the following sims: Microsoft Fighter Ace, Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator I & II, European Air War, Jane's World War II Fighters, IL2 Cliffs of Dover, IL2 Sturmovik (all modules), IL2 Sturmovik 1946, Rise of Flight, Flying Circus (WWI ), and IL2 Sturmovik Great Battles.
JV44 will continue to update over time to stay current with the latest forms of simulators, especially those sims related to WW2 aviation. Currently, we are also involved in a niche section of IL2 Great Battles related tanks. IL2 Tank Crew is worth looking for a change of pace. Again, this sim is set against the backdrop of WW2 on the Eastern & Western European fronts.
The best way to join JV44's online squadron is to contact a current member and ask questions. Would JV44 be a good fit for yourself? Examples: What time of day you fly; What you expect to get out of joining the squad; What the squad might do for you, etc. JV44 members can be found flying or tanking on various servers, e.g. Finnish Virtual Pilots IL2 Sturmovik server.
